I can't wait for...

I think anticipation is almost as much fun as the actual experience. Or at least, it enriches the experience and makes it last a lot longer. That's why I like to have things planned well in advance... so I can think about it a lot! Today was so nice and warm and now I'm so excited for all the good things of summer!

Mountain biking and going to Whistler
Boating on the lake
The Lynden Fair ( I know it has a longer name but I call it the Lynden Fair)

Spending time with family

Hello campfire!
Camping!
Doing things the hard way... like making popcorn over a fire!
And chilling out!

And that's just the beginning of my list of things I can't wait for! What are you excited about for the summer?

Potential

I think that my yard has many great features to it. This isn't one of them though. Last year, Luke and I were feeling really adventurous and wanted to cut a new bed in our backyard. Well, truth be told, we ran out of steam and this is the result. The grass has re-grown in, sloppy and ugly.

This is another shameful bed in our yard. That light green leafy plant that is poking out of every single other plant is the bane of my gardening existence. I can't spray roundup on it because we're not allowed to where we live. What's all the nonsense about "watershed" and "drinking water." Puh-lease. Well, I guess the large fines and possible jail-time are enough to deter me. So no roundup. The nursery gave me some stuff that was supposed to work and still stay in our neighborhood rules but it hasn't worked. So Luke is going to spend this Saturday and Sunday digging out these beds and making them look more like these:

Ah beauty!

Sigh of happiness...
I know, they look good right! That's about 25-30 hours of my love, sweat and pain. And a few of Luke's too. I'll tell ya, he's really good at shoveling soil. Now we just need to buy some plants!

Little side-note: Did you know it's not called 'dirt'??? I used to work at a greenhouse and I got into more trouble that you want to know about because I called the brown stuff 'dirt' like most people do. Pardon my french, but it's actually 'soil' which doesn't sound so nice either. Soil can also be used in other forms that tend to lean more towards diapers, mess and dirtiness. Hence the name dirt. But let's not start this.

So after we do all the work, I'll post more photos. And photos of us not working in the yard anymore. We will be so busy drinking margaritas on the patio that we won't have time for yard work. I think I live in a dream world. But I like it.

Hmmm... I've run out of stuff to say for the moment. I know, I thought that was weird too.

au-then-tic

Did you know that authentic is an adjective. I know, it's amazing. And it means this:

"Not false or copied; genuine; real."

After an amazing weekend on the team with Awake and Arise (www.awakeandarise.com) I am wanting to be authentic more than ever before. I think that life so easily demands that we give this up if we are not conscious and committed to being real. I have a tendency to be a professional hider from time to time... just being "great" and "fine" and smiling my way through whatever is really going on in my life. And it's not always just this. Sometimes I really am GREAT and don't share that either.

And that part about being real. What does that mean? Am I real? Who am I? All good questions that I am journaling about right now and I hope the bottom takes a long time to get to! I would hate "who I am" to be narrowed down to a simple statement on a page. I think each person has more depth inside of them than they are prepared for and thus is life. The pursuit of becoming. And being. And I know I can't wait for each of you to become more of who you are. Because I like that.

And put your seatbelts on because I'm going to do the same and I don't know what I look like yet but the more honest I get, the more I like it!

And that was Bonnie reporting from the deeper end of the pool!

Pounding head ache that I paid for

This is a picture of me with a head ache.

Okay, maybe it's not but I feel like this guy right now. And here's the best part. Wait. Just wait. I paid for it. With money. I am on my first day of a 9-day cleanse. And I'm cleansing and my head is aching. And part of the rules is no pain medications.

So, as you can imagine, Luke is just loving me right now! Because I am SUCH a wonderful person to be around! I AM! Yes, I am.

North of the Border

I am about to leave for Canada. My baby (I want to emphasize this... BABY) brother just finished his last final ever. At about 3pm. Well, that is, if he decides to quit after a Bachelor degree. So the Luke and I are going up to Canada to hang with my brothers and help him forget all the stuff he just learned for the past 4 years. So have a good weekend!

My Doggy Dog. Deeter

This is my doggy, Deeter. I know, he's very handsome. I think he knows it too because I tell him that everyday! I really do. And I know it's cheesy. I think that makes it more fun! And I know you're wondering why I like this funny looking creature so much. Well, it's the same reason that parents love their "awkward stage" kids or their "attitude in a teenage body" kids. Once upon a time, Deeter was a baby puppy doggy.

ANGELIC. I could eat his face. Not really but you know...

He looks like a toy. A fake dog. But I assure you, the pee puddles were real.

Okay... I know, it's a little bit centerfold-ish. But he used to lay like this in his bed all the time. And I didn't put his toys there. He did. He really liked organizing for a small portion of his life. Now he is more into the 'all over the house' look. Or the 'under the couch and I'm going to whine until I get my toy' thing. And that bed... he ate it. Well, I guess he ripped it to shreds and I threw it away. Same with his little weiner dog friend there. He's probably under a million pounds of landfill right about now. Poor unstuffed animal.

Here's a few more of Deeter in his adult life:

Pondering the deeper meaning of life.

Bad photo, I know but he's dancing in circles for a treat.

Enjoying my hub baking in the kitchen... plenty on the floor!

He's still pretty cute but it's definitely this that makes my heart melt into a giant puddle of mushy love... Sigh.

Life Insurance...

My husband likes to do this.

And this.

And we have life insurance. Of course, we don't plan on ever having to use it because he has my voice running through his head every time he goes for a ride. It goes something like this... "Remember, it's not cute to have a brain dead husband."  I am sure he is thinking of that in each of these photos. That's why he landed. Because he wants to be a cute husband. And that means brains intact.

I mean... look who is waiting for him at home! With glowing green eyes!
